Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of this course, the student will have:
- encountered, discussed and written about two important biblical texts (Genesis and Mark);
- explored a wide range of tools to assist in biblical interpretation (eg dictionaries and encyclopedias of the Bible, specialist commentaries etc);
and, for a given biblical text, will be able to:
- find secondary sources relevant to its interpretation;
- describe and account for varying interpretations;
- offer some independent analysis of it. |
Assessment Information
Assessment is based on COURSEWORK of two 1500-word essays (15% each) and regular attendance/participation in a course seminar (10%), AND a written degree exam (60%).
In order to pass this course, students must obtain a minimum of 40% in both the coursework (combined mark) and the degree exam. |
