Course description | Complementing the Science Education module, Science Education in Context will develop practice in working with schools. The module will include observation in both primary and secondary schools before working more closely with a specific age group. A journal will be kept throughout the school placement to encourage the development of reflective practice. Theory, practice and creativity will meet in the design, development and evaluation of an informal class science activity or workshop. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course, you will be able to demonstrate:
* Development as both a reflexive and reflective practitioner.
* Confidence in classroom techniques, and an understanding of the dynamics of individual, group and whole class learning and engagement.
* An understanding of the progression in learning and development from age 5-18, recognising the varying teaching methods and approaches used to meet the needs of these different age groups.
* Ability to design, deliver and evaluate a classroom based informal science communication activity e.g. a short presentation, hands-on activity. |
