| Course description | Indicative course content
Students will develop skills in at least two applied art or design disciplines such as textiles, jewellery or glass. Students will work on projects from initial idea or brief, through developmental work to resolved pieces.
Aims of course
1 Working from a research notebook, sketches and other research materials students will show an ability to deploy key skills appropriate to applied design practice at this level.
2 To enable students to acquire introductory levels of skill in making and thinking in applied art or design disciplines.
3 To develop familiarity with appropriate means of presentation and display of work made using media covered in this module

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Display evidence of originality and the beginnings of a personal language in finished work and the research which supports it.
2. Show evidence of a basic understanding of the creative interrelationship between preparatory drawing and at least two complementary applied art disciplines.
3. Show an understanding of the requirements of professional practice and appropriate presentation and selection skills at this level |
