Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
1. Understand the basic principles of structures and foundations
2. Recognize the differences in behaviour between the different structural materials and systems
3. Understand the process of structural appraisal
4. Understand the role that specialists in investigation, testing and analysis can play in building conservation
5. Be aware of deterioration processes, structural failure and defects, and the effects they have on performance.
Students should be able to observe, draw logical deductions, and make recommendations on the information available.
They should be able to commission and discuss, as informed colleagues, the results of specialist investigations and analyses carried out by others. |
