The Special Subject is chosen each year from a range of projects, which usually involve independent working, literature reviews, thematic surveys, and fieldwork.
Aims of Module
1. To deepen the understanding of a particular topic in conservation
2. To develop strength in a particular area of conservation.
Additional Notes
Since 2007/8, this module has focused specifically on architectural conservation in World Heritage Sites, with the aim of complementing the Area Conservation course (ARCH11114).

On completion of this module, the student is expected to be able to:
1. Demonstrate detailed knowledge of a particular topic and the literature informing the topic.
2. Display ability to effectively carry out specific project work related to the topic, including (where appropriate) working with outside agencies.
3. Display organisational, verbal and presentational skills appropriate to Special Subject work.
