Course description | Recent advances in nutrition are having a major impact on sporting excellence, exercise physiology and health. This course is designed so that students can gain the appropriate knowledge and experience, with particular reference to the key role that nutrition plays in any integrated approach to sport. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Identify the main nutrients in balanced diet and identify foodstuffs high in each nutrient;
Understand how fuel use relates to different sports;
Explain cause of dehydration and its effects on performance;
Be able to evaluate a diet and its appropriateness for sport;
Be able to differentiate between nutritional supplements and ergogenic aids. |
