Course description | The course explores six modern theories of religion in the context of debates on disciplinarity and interdisciplinarity in the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. It puts the theories into context and requires students to identify, describe and defend their own preferred theory of religion. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, a student should have:
(1) understood how to define $ùreligion&© in the light of definitional theory;
(2) engaged critically with an illustrative selection of modern theories of $ùreligion&©;
(3) rehearsed and refined nuanced arguments comparing different kinds of definitions and theories of $ùreligion&©;
(4) participated in constructive oral discussion and debate with seminar members;
(5) defended her/his own preferred working theory of $ùreligion&©;
(6) shown ability to identify different research paradigms (humanities, social science, natural science) underpinning particular theories of $ùreligion&©.
