Course description | This course provides students with knowledge of advanced debates around methodology and research techniques in Human Geography, and related areas of the humanities and social sciences concerned with the theme of society and space. The subject uses directed readings and seminar discussions to explore the place of theory and method in constructing distinctive geographical knowledges. The course also examines the relationship between academically-formed geographical knowledges and other frameworks of spatial and environmental knowledge, including the spheres of policy and the everyday. The subject is designed to be responsive to the specific research interests of students and requires students to read in a specialist area relevant to the design of their proposed research. |
