Course description | The course will introduce and demonstrate the importance of the routine inclusion of earth sciences methods within the framework of archaeological research. The material and examples will come mainly from ancient Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Babylonian and Persian cultures. The majority will be taken from 1000 BC to the late Roman period, with other examples from prehistoric cultures. Throughout the course, the practical archaeological benefits of incorporation of course content within archaeological research will be emphasised through examples. The course material will be fully expressed within ancient contexts, e.g. historical, economic, and intellectual. |
