Course description | Students study elements of image processing theory and application through the application of signal processing techniques.
Introduction: Human and Computer Vision Systems, Images and Image sampling, Transform; Basic Image Processing Operations: Histograms, Group Operations, Statistical Operators; Low-Level feature Extraction: First-order edge detection operators, Second-order edge detection operators;
Feature Extraction by Shape Matching: Thresholding and Subtraction, Template Matching, Hough Transform, Generalised Hough Transform; Flexible Shape Extraction: Deformable Templates, Snakes, Discrete Symmetry Operator, Flexible Shape Models; Object description: Shape and region descriptors, Boundary descriptions, Region descriptors; Texture, segmentation and classification: Texture measures structural and statistical, Classification approaches, Principal components analysis
