Course description | Synopsis:
This supervised course in composition for the screen further develops a student&Šs portfolio of compositions in areas which composition and/or sound design experience is necessary for projects related to film/TV and media music through individual tutorials. Group lectures will focus on analysis and deeper investigation into the technique of composers and of particular problems in composition for screen. All musical styles are endorsed and cultivated, especially those that include both electronic and acoustic styles simultaneously. Students with experience in sound design are also encouraged.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Aims:
&ˇ To improve experience in composition for standard and exotic instrumentations, include the use of electronics
&ˇ To encourage experimentation of form and style in preparation for the demands of compositional work for screen
&ˇ To learn to work together in disseminating factors of necessary analysis for analysis as a group
Learning outcomes:
&ˇ Enrichment in the student&Šs portfolio of works created in different musical and sonic characteristics for film and TV, as well as related concert music
&ˇ New techniques of composition and musical creation in demanding and restrictive musical contexts, such as those for film and TV

Assessment Information
Assessment and assessment criteria:
Students will be assessed by submission of a portfolio of one or more completed works during the semester, and marked based on their creativity, thoroughness and originality of thought. The works should demonstrate a full exploration of the student's creative horizons as well as clear competence in relevant technical areas. The portfolio will be submitted at the end of the course.
As this course is strongly structured around individual tutorials, students will be receiving feedback throughout the course.
