Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
The student will gain a knowledge of some of the greatest organ music in the entire repertoire by investigating a representative cross-section of Bach's extraordinarily rich output of free and chorale-based organ music. The work will be partly analytical, exploring the various genres of praeludium, toccata, fugue, organ chorale, chorale partita and others. A particular study will be made of the Orgelbuchlein and the major preludes and fugues. Liturgical purposes will be investigated where relevant. |
