Course description | This course aims to give students the ability to write for a variety of instrumental forces culminating in the full orchestra, using a variety of mainly early or mid-20th century models. A substantial part of the course is spent analysing relevant scores, in particular examples of composers transcribing or arranging their own music. |

Pre-requisites | Visiting students should have at least three Music courses at grade B or above in Music Theory (or be predicted to obtain this). We will only consider University/College level courses.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
- Students will have learned how to write for a variety of instrumental forces up to and including full orchestra.
- They will be able to analyse scores from the point of view of orchestration and apply analagous techniques in their own work.
- They will have learned how to make piano reductions of orchestral scores. |
