Course description | The course will discuss several human diseases that arise from ion channel dysfunction. We will discuss what is known about the molecular basis of diseases such as cystic fibrosis, disorders of the nervous system and cardiovascular disorders and how this knowledge is being utilised to develop new therapeutic approaches. We will cover how from the identification of specific gene mutations through to laboratory-based research using in vitro and in vivo models of disease the molecular mechanisms of ion channel dysfunction are being unravelled. |
