Course description | Course for final year students in Honours programmes in Mathematics.
An introduction to the theory of rings and modules. A discussion of naturally occurring examples such as modules over the integers (abelian groups), over polynomial rings (Jordan form), over group algebras (representations). Structure of modules over semisimple rings and the Artin-Wedderburn Theorem. |
