Course description | This Core Course seeks to enhance understanding of cultural, institutional and linguistic change in Europe by bringing together ideas, issues and scholarly approaches which elsewhere are frequently considered in compartmentalised fashion, as part of different academic disciplines. Unlike Cultural Studies, where textual perspectives predominate, the focus here will be on the importance of institutions, in the widest sense of that term, allowing for a genuinely interdisciplinary, but nonetheless cohesive, treatment of the central theme. The Core Course provides additional overall cohesiveness by introducing numerous themes which are taken up and explored more fully in the Options made available for selection. |
