| Course description | This is the third course of a certificate which aims to develop leadership knowledge and understanding and leadership and organisational skills, and to enable participants to reflect critically on the understanding and skills they acquire. Course participants will plan, lead and evaluate a small-scale collaborative school project successfully, in accordance with sound educational values, using appropriate knowledge and understanding and professional abilities, and then critically review their development as a teacher leader. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Development of knowledge and understanding of:

&ˇ identify and justify decisions taken in relation to managing and leading a small scale project;

&ˇ build and develop their leadership skills;
&ˇ evaluate their own effectiveness within a given range of tasks and skills;
&ˇ design and write project plans and evaluation reports
&ˇ use reading to inform practice, decisions and reflection. |
Assessment Information
Meeting the assessment criteria for this course will involve the implementation of a small-scale development project in school. Assessment will consist of two components.
1. Participants will be required to submit a project proposal which outlines a plan for developing a small scale project with a clear rationale, clear aims and objectives. The proposal should give an account of the implementation strategies to be adopted, provide a supportive explanatory narrative, outline success criteria in relation to the project&Šs objectives and detail the proposed monitoring and evaluative strategies. The length of the proposal will be 1000 words (+/- 10%). [25%]
2. A reflective project report that includes a discussion of how the project was implemented monitored and evaluated along with supportive illustrative evidence and an explanatory narrative. It will also contain reflective discussion on the development of the participant&Šs developed knowledge and understanding of leadership and a review of the participant&Šs leadership skills. This should include discussion of the change process in context, the learning journey undertaken, and the difference made to the quality of learning, working relationships and the leadership abilities of the participant. The length of the report will be 3000 words (+/- 10%). [75%] |
Special Arrangements
| Delivery can be on/off campus at summer school or on weekends and evenings dependent on cohort. It involves developing web based supportive networks and participants will be invited to join the course at set times to ensure this is manageable |
