The taught components of the EdD take place in four one-week blocks. These are normally in early January, April, July and mid September. The exact dates will be specified at least one year in advance to assist with planning. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
The course has an orienting function and seeks to help participants use research to problematise their day-to-day professional activity and engage with it in a reflexive manner. It also has an integrative function in encouraging participants to draw up a compact, based on their analysis of their professional needs, which will inform the contributions they will make and the areas they will select during the remainder of their programme of study. In this way it is hoped that participants will enhance their ability to articulate and analyse the notion of professionalism and professional practice (including their own) from a philosophical, sociological and psychological perspective |
Assessment Information
A written assignment of 4-5,000 words, which should be informed by a peer-evaluated seminar presentation. This will take the form of a critical reflection of a significant aspect of the participants professional practice and its personal and professional development implications within a climate of change. |
