Course description | Upon Completion of this module, participants will be required to demonstrate that they are able to: Engage in critical discussion of the nature of their own and others' professionalism, of professional values and of the relationship between enquiry, relevant theory and professional practice. Analyse the impact of current government and local policy and perceptions upon their professional life and standing. Evaluate approaches to professional development and practice-based enquiry. Review critically their professional experience, influence and impact and use this review as the basis for planning (including planning an APL claim) and setting targets for professional development within the CT programme. Manage their programme of professional development within the cycle of planning, implementation, reflection and application in influence and action. Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Participants will be required to demonstrate that they are able to:
1. engage in critical discussion of the nature of their own and others' professions, professional values and of the relationship between relevant theory and professional practice;
2. analyse the impact of current policy, both at central and local government level, upon their professional life and standing;
3. evaluate approaches to professional development and practice-based enquiry;
4. review critically their professional experience, influence and impact and use this review as the basis for planning and setting targets for professional development within the CT programme. This could include planning an APL claim;
5. manage their programme of professional development following a spiral of planning, implementation, reflection, evaluation and refinement;
6. monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of their programme for:
- professional growth
- enhanced professional practice
- influencing institutional change as a leader within the school
- enhancing pupil learning;
through beginning to compile a Professional Development Portfolio
7. understand how the process of self-evaluation and critical analysis can lead to enhanced professional development;
8. locate and use professional and research literature critically and analytically. |
