Course description | PE3C Research (in physical education) enhances and supports the students understanding of relevant research for physical education. By recourse to appropriate accounts of research methodologies students will become acquainted with valid and reliable approaches to research that can, in turn, inform their production of papers/investigation over years 3 and 4 of this Programme. Students will be ideally placed to review and reflect on their previous teaching placements and these experiences will undoubtedly inform the nature of the research practice and subject matter that they feel is appropriate as future teachers of physical education. The 'teacher as researcher' as an aspect of 'reflective practice' forms the starting point for PE3C Research. The targets for such research will gradually be shaped by the interests students develop through various (other) course inputs, as well as through the research traditions typically associated with these. The gradual shift to independent research by students is to be encouraged. |
