Course description | The Expressive Arts 5 to 14 curriculum encompasses Art and Design, Drama, Music and Physical Education. This course will look at the educational value of encouraging pupils of primary school age in a range of balanced activities. The course will also be supported by critical reflection on pedagogical principals. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course students will be able to:
- demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the creative process as it features in activities central to Art & Design, Drama, Music and Physical Education
- demonstrate an understanding of the educational value of engaging pupils of primary school age in a balanced range of Expressive Arts activities
- demonstrate an understanding of the developmental stages of children of primary school age in terms of their learning - readiness (cognitive, aesthetic, psychomotor and social) to engage in the full range of curricular Expressive Arts activities
- reflect critically on their own practical experiences in the Expressive Arts in ways which inform their understanding of pedagogical principles which will inform their own teaching |
