Course description | The two major components of this course are Design Thinking and Design Realisation. A variety of models are considered but the concept that "all models are limited" will be thoroughly examined. A number of ways of how to "bring a thought to a thing" will be explored before beginning the design brief, which will encourage both divergent and convergent thinking techniques. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course the student will be able to:
i. Decode a project brief to elicit that what is required by the 'customer'.
ii. Conduct a 'search', internally (the mind) and externally (library or www) to obtain relevant information.
iii. Use divergent thinking techniques to create ideas for consideration.
iv. Use convergent thinking techniques to decide upon ideas for development.
v. Manufacture a model to satisfy the initial design proposal. |
