Course description | The PEP1 course in Year 1 and the PEP2 course in Year 2 are designed to provide a foundation course for BEd Physical Education students. The aims of both PEP1 and PEP2 are to develop the students' understanding of the critical aesthetic, scientific and social discourses informing the professional in action within the context of Education and Physical Education. The PEP1 course will focus on two of the aforementioned perspectives; science and aesthetics. Professional action presupposes an understanding of varied disciplines of human enquiry and therefore the Physical Education Perspectives course prepares students to draw on a range of understandings in their teaching. The course content, teaching and learning strategies adopted and modes of assessment aim to establish the academic rigour and professional preparation commensurate with a foundation undergraduate Initial Teacher Education programme. |
