Course description | To provide an introduction to this modular course of study.
To help participants understand the difference between masters level education and that of undergraduate teaching or traditional short courses of didactic teaching or skills coaching.
To direct participants towards a wide range of resources and give guidance on how to find, use and reflect on the available evidence.
To introduce a project that will be chosen in order to audit or explore an area of the participants' current clinical practice. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Understand the concept of self-directed learning and the level if assessment for this Masters degree.
Have a logical approach to data gathering.
Understand forward planning and consideration of resource and time management.
Understand the basic research principles of literature search, critical appraisal and types of clinical trials and be able to perform a Medline search.
Present a range of information to their peers using the appropriate audio-visual techniques. |
Assessment Information
50% - Presentation of a project based on coursework
50% - Production of a reflective account. |
Special Arrangements
Specific support will be arranged for students with specific disabilities as already arranged for the other Master Degrees at Edinburgh Postgraduate Dental Institute. |
