| Course description | This forms the final piece of work undertaken by students on the Masters programme on Film in the Public Space. In keeping with the programme&©s innovative approach, students will submit a final project in the form of one of a choice of designs. Each of these projects is designed to enable students to apply and engage with the critical concepts explored across the programme; to integrate theoretical and applied approaches; and to develop specific areas of academic and professional competence.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
| The final project will enable students to integrate theoretical learning with applied approaches to the mobilisation of film in the public space. Final project work will require students to demonstrate an informed appreciation of film as both material and cultural object; an awareness of the historical, geographical, industrial and institutional contexts in which film is circulated; and an understanding of the relationship between the moving image and its audiences. Whether working individually or within a group, student work will demonstrate outreach both through research and/or exhibition, a recognition of the significance of collaboration within the field, and show evidence of knowledge of interdependence and networks $ú whether cultural, economic or interdisciplinary, transnational, cross-media or cross-genre. |
Assessment Information
Students will submit a final project, taking one of the following forms: a singly authored dissertation of 15,000 words (excluding bibliography and notes); an industry report of 15,000 words (excluding appendices and supporting material); a portfolio demonstrating the conception and production of an event or exhibition (actual or virtual), in the case of group work this will incorporate an individual reflective critique of between 3 $ú 4,000 words.
The final project is weighted at 60 credits. 100% of the final grade will be awarded to the submitted dissertation, report or portfolio. |
