Course description | Film Theory 2 is the second part of a course designed to make students familiar with major European film theories and various approaches to film analysis. The discussion will focus on core theoretical contributions from realism to psychoanalysis and film semiotics. The theoretical discussion will be combined with exercises in film analysis. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Familiarity with major concepts of filmmaking and contemporary theories of film. Understanding and ability to apply these analytical and critical tools for the investigation of individual films and a discussion of issues in film historiography.
The course as a whole prepares for, and accompanies, the work in the various options. |
