| Course description | The introduction of new technology and the need for continuous innovation in a global marketplace requires new and existing organisations to understand how to manage technology and exploit the goods and services derived from technological innovation. A key management issue here is the process of ?implementation? whereby new technological elements are combined, together with the available human, technical and organisational elements, to produce novel configurations appropriate for meeting the particular objectives of the introducing organisations and delivering new forms of value. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course students should be able to show that they:
- appreciate the complex character of technology as involving technical, organisational, financial and cultural aspects;
- are familiar with the range of technologies currently attracting managerial attention;
- appreciate the range of analytical frameworks available and their differential appropriateness for structuring the diversity of management problems confronted;
- appreciate other resources available (theories, methods, techniques, information sources, and agencies) for analysing and managing the implementation of new technologies, especially under conditions of rapid change;
- understand the range of management issues involved in successful implementation; |

By one individual briefing paper (20%), one group assignment (30%), and an individual project (50%).
