Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
- learned about the advantages and limitations of using modern sociological models in the study of ancient sects, parties and groups.
- gained knowledge of features that make the Pharisees, Sadducees, Essenes, Zealots, Sicarii and Fourth Philosophy distinctive as well as the commonalities that they share.
- studied the personalities, practices, rituals, and history/mythology of the communities' origins.
- acquired a good understanding of the grammatical and conceptual problems related to the reading of ancient religious literature.
- attained a thorough knowledge of the theology and piety of the scrolls.
