| Course description | A 60 credit course with 20 credits taught and 40 credits for the preparation of a project proposal either directly related to an identified opportunity related to the work of the individual and their organisation or as a template to provide the basis for proposals for funding in the future to an as yet identified source. This would be a substantial piece of work that an NGO, research or development organisation might go for. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
It is intended that students completing this course would be made aware of the various stages required for the preparation of a project proposal, including the incorporation of downstream elements of project cycle management including programme management; monitoring and evaluation (including setting baselines)and impact assessment.
The 20 credit assessed component of this course would aim to promote an understanding of how large and small scale projects for control of infectious/non communicable disease should be designed and implemented at field level.
After completion of the 20 credit component the student would be mentored through the various stages of preparing a project proposal which would constitute the remaining 40 credit weighting of this course. This would include:
&· Identification of appropriate funding streams and understanding their financial regulations e.g. procurement of goods and services, auditing;
&· Preparation of a concept note
&· Completion of a funding application
&· Interpreting and acting upon reviewer feedback
&· Preparation of a cover letter
&· Negotiation of contract and financial payment schedules |
Assessment Information
| Students would complete 20 credits worth of normal summative written assessment. This will constitute 60% of the student's grade and 40% online. The remaining 40 credits would be based on the preparation of materials directly related to the preparation of a project proposal. |
