Course description | This is an upper advanced language course consisting of four components:
&· translating into English with materials from literature, technical writings, newspaper editorials, etc.
&· newspaper reading with a focus on current affairs
&· composition with the aim of further improving students&© writing skills
&· oral class with a wide range of topics aiming to improve students&© speaking skills through debating, discussing and making presentations in Chinese.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Students are expected to reach the upper advanced level at the end of the course. They will be in command of a wide range of vocabulary and grammatical structures encompassing a wide range of topics. Students should be equipped with an advanced level of written and spoken Chinese to express in depth their viewpoints and carry out research using original Chinese documents. |

Continuous assessments consisting of two translation assessments and two composition assessments (40%);
Written exam with a focus on grammar, vocabulary and reading (40%);
