Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
To equip students with the necessary reading and writing skills to continue their study of Japanese language and culture at a Japanese university by:
-enabling them to read and write over 500 kanji characters -familiarizing them with kanji in context by reading and translating texts
-providing practice in written self-expression in Japanese
-encouraging them to develop general reading skills in Japanese
-introducing them to the cultural background to Japan and developing their critical knowledge of Japanese Studies |
Assessment Information
Frequent exercises. 1 class exam 10% (S1); 1 report (S1) 5%; 1 essay (S2) 10%; frequent kanji tests and kanji portfolio 20%; 1 degree exam 55%. |
