At the end of this module, students should:
? Use the mechanisms governing ?global mean surface temperature? and ?greenhouse effect?
? Appreciate the nature of the Earth?s past climatic history
? Understand the concept of modelling, applied to extensive physical environmental systems
? Understand the gearing between atmospheric content global temperature & carbon reservoirs
? Understand the principle mechanisms of ozone depletion
? Understand the role of ozone in protecting the Earth?s surface from UV irradiation
? Appreciate the nature of fossil fuel in terms of chemical composition
? Appreciate the scope and nature of alternative power generation technology
? Understand the distinction between energy generation, conversion, storage and use
? Understand the limitations on energy conversion imposed by physical laws
