Course description | PLEASE NOTE: THIS COURSE IS OWNED AND ADMINISTRATED BY ECA
Students are required to attend lessons in English
and write a short Building Critique. The focus is on the
development of English language skills and provide
an opportunity to expand their vocabulary range,
grammatical knowledge and critical abilities in
Architecture.
Aims
1. To provide a platform of knowledge and skills in
English language comprehension that will help
academic study in the Diploma/Masters
programme.
2. To assist in developing a vocabulary in art,
design and visual culture.
3. To revise and expand knowledge of grammatical
structures and to further develop written
language skills which will support academic
study in English.
There will be nine lectures, pluse seminars and
tutorials

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module, students will be able to:
1. A commitment to the acquisition of English
language skills in the learning environment
2. Demonstrate knowledge of the English
language grammar and the academic skills
appropriate to writing a building critique.
3. Demonstrate a critical understanding of the
principal issues and relevant theories of a
selected area of architecture.
