Course description | Indicative course content
The first of the two Design Studio modules provides opportunities for students to research, analyse and increase knowledge of the Diploma Unit&©s specialist subject area. Further opportunities test knowledge & and ability through short design proposals by both individual and group working. The intellectual content is intended to be both stimulating and exploratory.
Aims of course
1 Introduce students to a range of new concepts, topics, themes of enquiry, materials, processes,techniques, methodologies and philosophies.
2 Enable students to experiment with new concepts, ideas, processes, and materials to which they have been introduced
3 Test the learning within a prescribed context or set problem and explore both the artistic andintellectual implications inherent in their programmes.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the principle issues, relevant theories, specific characteristics and features of architecture and a related specialised subject area by analysis and critical evaluation.
2. An ability to evolve a spatial and material design strategy for a set problem and prescribed context which asks questions and takes risks
3. Display skills in communicating design proposals/creative propositions in relation to individual and group work by a selection of appropriate methods |
