Lecture course and plant walkabouts in Royal Botanic Gardens
Aims of course
1 to provide a practical and theoretical knowledge of horticulture.
2 to communicate knowledge about the use of plant material in design, growth characteristics, environmental requirements and aesthetic qualities.
3 to develop plant recognition skills and the ability to explore the qualities of plants as a design medium.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. demonstrate an understanding of the value of trees in the environment, their cultivation and management.
2. demonstrate an understanding of the importance of species selection and the management and maintenance of amenity turf.
