* Honours degrees must include 40 credits of dissertation work.  Where this is taken in English Literature the 40 credit unit will be undertaken in fourth year.  Where the dissertation is taken in History the 40 credit unit will be undertaken in fourth year.

# Entry to year 3 normally requires a pass at 50% or above at the first attempt in English Literature 2 or Scottish Literature 2 and a mark of 50% or above in any history course.
