* Modelling flow, mass and heat transport in the subsurface;
* Parameters in the subsurface;
* Methods of solving the mass balance equations;
* Case studies with finite difference and finite element software

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will have gained experience of:

* finite difference and finite element software
* groundwater flow
* contaminant transport in an aquifer
* zonation of aquifers, application to West Lothian.

Assessment Information

Class exercise on aquifer zonations of catchment areas and written examination.
