Mathematics Study Skills (U04251)

This course develops study skills in mathematics at University level. The course will cover strategies for problem solving for both computational and theoretical problems. The material covered will come mainly from the co-requisite Mathematics courses Foundations of Calculus and Several Variable Calculus. Background material necessary for successful attempts on this material will be covered where necessary.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

1. An understanding of what is required to gain mastery of Mathematics at University level.

2. An understanding of the structure and process of Mathematics at University level: the axiomatic approach and the importance of careful logical argument.

3. Improved skills in basic mathematical calculation.
