The dissertation offers the opportunity to research in depth a subject that holds special interest to the student, on topics associated with either Arabic, Persian, or Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies, or French or Spanish.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

The dissertation aims to develop and demonstrate analytical and organisational skills in a particular area, thus giving students an insight to the world of research and scholarship. A dissertation does not necessarily aim at exhaustiveness within its field or topic, nor does it need to incorporate original research, although both elements may be apparant in the completed dissertation.

One 10,000 word dissertation.
