This course is designed to increase participants' ability to plan, undertake and report small-scale academic research in written and spoken form. The main course components are: Critical reading and text analysis; Discussion skills; Presentation skills; and work on two Projects (one collaborative and the other individual).

Entry Requirements

? This course is not accepting further student enrolments.

? Pre-requisites : Overall 6.5 IELTS with a minimum of 6.0 in each section (or TOEFL equivalents). Students who have not taken IELTS or TOEFL will be asked to take an entry test on Wednesday 14 January 2009 (2 pm or 4 pm) in room G36 at Paterson's Land, Moray House School of Education, to see whether they have reached the required level for the course.

? Costs : There is one set book for the course: "Study Speaking" by Anderson, Maclean and Lynch ISBN 9780521 33966. It costs around £14.00 and it is not necessary to buy the accompanying audio CD.
