Practical Theology 2 (U03727)

The course will introduce students to the study of Christian life and practice through practical theological approaches. Students will consider Christian life and practice within the context of the church as a reconciling, worshipping, and learning community. Different models of theological reflection on practice will be explored.

Students will also be introduced to the ways in which practical theology relates to, and interacts with, other disciplines including sociology, psychology, art and education.

? Pre-requisites : A pass of 80 credits at level 8 is required.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course students should be able to:

- Describe key features of Christian life and practice in building reconciled communities, in worship, and in education.
- Analyse case studies of Christian reconciling, liturgical, educational life and practice.
- Engage in theological reflection on life and practice in the study of the Christian church.
- Give an inter-disciplinary account of the church as a community of practice.

Assessment Information

Assessment will consist of:

1. Reflections of 300-400 words (1 side of A4) on weekly tutorial text (20%).
2. Essay of 2,000-2,500 words (20%)
3. Two hour examination (60%)
