This course develops knowledge and understanding of (i) the international legal system; (ii) the main institutions which contribute to the development and application of international law; and (iii) the legal rules, principles and processes which govern key areas of inter-state activity.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

To develop student skills of (i) case and treaty analysis;
(ii) legal reasoning; (iii) criticism; (iv) oral and written communication; and (v) legal research.

Assessment Information

Two Essays and one Exam.

The first essay is formative and is submitted in semester one. The second essay which is submitted in semester two is worth 30% of the overall mark, and should be a maximum of 4 pages long.
The degree examination is worth 70% of the overall mark.
