Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

Students will:
- gain an understanding of the work of major thinkers about music, its meanings and its socio-cultural traditions;
- gain the ability to understand theoretical and aesthetic systems and relate theory and practice to each other;
- learn to relate musical works to the broader context of the history of ideas.

Assessment Information

One coursework submission c.2,000 words (50%) to be submitted by 4.00pm Wednesday 3 December 2008, and one further coursework submission c.2,000 words (50%) to be submitted by 4.00pm on Friday 17 December 2008.
