Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

1.Demonstrate a critical understanding of biology and biological principles applied to the clinical setting within the adult nursing.

2.Demonstrate the relevance of homeostasis and
homeostatic mechanisms to nursing practice

3.Demonstrate a critical appreciation of the concept of
stress
4.Demonstrate a critical appreciation of a systems
approach to biological concepts
5.Integrate the knowledge and understanding of the
identified biological systems with the clinical reality
of health and illness.
6.Demonstrate the transferability of knowledge of
biological principles to systems not addressed
specifically within the course.
7.Extend knowledge and understanding, with self directed
study to other systems of the body not addressed in
this particular course
