Psycholinguistics (U00617)

This course introduces the intellectual discipline of experimental psycholinguistics. Surveying central topics in normal adult language behaviour, the course shows how models and experimental methods are used to explore those swift, invisible processes which make us fluent users of language.

Entry Requirements

? Pre-requisites : This course requires English Language 2 or Linguistics 2A + 2B or Linguistics 2A + 2L. This course has a named level 11 version, if you are a Postgraduate Student you must take the PG version.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

An appreciation of psycholinguistic models; an understanding of experimental methods in the field, the ability to read, summarize, and support arguments from primary experimental literature; hands-on experience of a machine-readable dictionary; collaborative research and presentation skills.
