The major organising theme in this third year course is systems of care. Within this framework issues of nursing are applied to clinical contexts and to the understanding of complex clinical situations. Both theoretical and clinical aspects of nursing are addressed. The clinical experience crosses a wide range of settings and reflects various stages in the patients 'career' and health transitions. Proficiency in clinical skills acquired is linked closely to the core curriculum of knowledge, skills and attitudes, meeting both academic and professional requirements. Clinical experience extends to the Spring, culminating in an elective placement when the student can pursue a specific area of care.
