International Political Economy (PO0042)

This course introduces the subject area of international political economy. It is intended for students who have had no previous background in the subject or economics. It begins with a review of the principal theoretical approaches to the study of international political economy. It then examines the major issue areas in the post-war global economy, including: trade; international finance including debt crises; transnational corporations; and globalization and regionalization.

(1) International Relations Single Honours 3rd year;
(2) Politics Single Honours 3rd year;
(3) Politics Joint Honours 3rd year;

(6) Politics Joint Honours 4th year;
(7) Other SSPS students;
(8) Non-SSPS students

Please note: because of the high numbers of students enrolled, this course will almost certainly not be able to admit students from outside the College of Humanities and Social Science.

- Show an understanding of the evolution of the international political economy since the second world war.
