It will examine the epidemiology of infectious diseases and their global disease burden, and critically assess major contemporary strategies for the control of these diseases. The course critically examines key principles in infectious disease control including outbreak management and surveillance methods. It will assess both the principles underlying vaccination and immunisation and the methods for monitoring and evaluating immunisation programmes.
