Operational Research Modelling in Energy (P02864)

? Credit Points : 10  ? SCQF Level : 11  ? Acronym : MAT-P-ORME

With the generation and distribution of energy resources becoming evermore complex, there is an ever growing need for the application of OR techniques in this sector of industry. Xpress-MP is a world-leading suite of mathematical modelling and optimization tools. In this course, students will first be taught the foundations of mathematical programming and the Xpress-MP modelling language. This will be done via a sequence of case studies in optimal decision-making. In the second half of the course, applications of OR in the energy industry will be studied, with appropriate models being developed using Xpress.
