Christian Political Thought (P02286)

This course is the primary provision for the new Christian Political Thought stream in the M.Th. in Theological Ethics. Usually taught in the Second Semester, it will complement the more general core course in Ethics taught in the First Semester with an emphasis on the socio-political spheres of decision and action. The emphasis in this course will be with texts from the last century, avoiding overlap with the course on Church and State, which is more historically based. It should also provide a useful adjunct course for the Development, Media and Ecology streams.

Critical reflection on theological method in socio-political questions.

Assessment Information

Members of the class will produce written papers (of 3-4 thousand words) in the course of the Semester. Assistance in selecting a topic and planning the essay will be available.
